1Malaysia Email for All Malaysian above 18 years old

Malaysia never failed to amuse us. This time, they have come up with an ingenious idea to create a 1Malaysia email for all Malaysian aged 18 and above.

This project is to cost RM50million and the Government was quick to add that it is a private business idea and has nothing to do with the Malaysia government, which leave many Malaysian curious about the company that is initiating this project. Tricubes Berhad, a listed company that is under GN3 status, which has been asked by Bursa Malaysia for a financial regularisation plan or risk being delisted.

Interesting, right? While both the Malaysian Government and Tricubes was quick to stressed that it is a private led initiative and no money allocated from the Government. It is then weird that a tender was called last year November, where a few firms were invited to bid for such similar project!

If it is a private-led initiative, why is there a tender exercise? If it is a private business offering, why does Tricubes Berhad notify Bursa Malaysia made such announcement?

“The Board of Directors of TRICUBES wishes to announce that the Company has on 4 April 2011 accepted the appointment by the Government of Malaysia represented by Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) vide MAMPU’s letter of award dated 29 March 2011 to implement the 1 Malaysia Email Project.

TRICUBES will enter into a definitive agreement with Government of Malaysia to finalise the detailed terms and conditions of the appointment in due course. This announcement is dated 4 April 2011"

AND the Malaysia Government assure us that it is a private business deal that no public funds will be used? Hmmm...... Are you having a feeling that the Government is insulting our intelligent?

What is more amazing AND amusing is that Tricubes chief executive Khairun Zainal Mokhtar was clueless on how the company can make money from this project!! So, if it is REALLY private funded project, how can he not able to know how to profit from it?? of course, unless it is funded by the Malaysia Government. So, Najib, can you stop fooling us? Oh...by the way...you were not elected to be the PM, you inherited..so, why not quickly call for a General Election to have your much needed mandate?

WHO is so smart to think of giving all Malaysian a free email? Is Malaysia enjoying a 100% internet penetration? What is the domain name to be used? How do you resolved people having the same name? Are you going to ban access from gmail, hotmail, Yahoomail etc? if not, why build something when it is ALREADY FREE?

Would I use your free email? I have plenty of emails account given to me, what streamyx la, when signed-up with streamyx which I do not use at all, so, why would I brother to use your what 1Malaysia email?

Najib says culprits will face action, We are waiting!

The New Strait Times reported that Najib is disappointed over the irregularities and mismanagement as exposed by the Auditor-General report 2008.

Najib said:"I know and I am disappointed. This is a big government but once we start the key performance indicators and national key result areas, it will be a lot better."

What does this means? Are you saying that you are not going after those mentioned in the Auditor-General report? We are not keen about your Future KPI, we are keen that you take immediate action against those who misused the public funds!

According to the newspaper, Najib said the most important thing after the exposure was for the state governments, agencies and departments that had been taken to task by the auditor-general to take certain measures.

"We must take certain steps, for instance, punitive action. This is usually not seen.

"We need to reward performers while those who transgress (flout the rules and regulations) should face punitive action."

This needed to be done as part and parcel of good governance, Najib added.

So, it is nice to hear these, but it has been four days and we have seen no follow-up actions. I wonder what will happen 2 week later. When the main stream media start to raise other issues, which most people now talk about the 2009 Budget, the public will slowly forget about Auditor-General report and the Culprits go harmless.
The Auditor-General as been highlighting areas of weaknesses year in year out, but years after years, we hear the same report.

If Najib is serious about correcting the wrongs, he should instruct MACC to investigate all parties mentioned in the Auditor-General report from 2002 till now. Show us that you are serious in reform, otherwise, people will start losing faith in your leadership.
