Keep Bumi-Housing Discount, not 7% but increase to 15%, Terms and Condition applys

The recent suggestion by Petaling Jaya (Utara) MP Tony Pua Kiam Wee for the abolishment of bumiputera discounts on properties worth more than RM500,000 in Selangor was not well-received.

I think to ask for total removal of the Bumi discount is too much that many Bumi cannot accept. But, think deeper, if a bumi is able to afford a RM500,000 house, he is no difference from many non-bumi. I think he would feel better, higher ego and self esteem that he is now at par with many of his non-bumi in the neighborhood. Otherwise, we will continue to view these staying in the same Taman as those "special" aided few.

Instead of offering 7% discount across the board, I would proposed reduce it to 2% discount and the remaining 5% put aside by the developer in a special fund for 10% discount for Housing costing less than RM100,000 or 15% for RM50,000 houses. The main objective of the Bumi-discount is to help those in need, so that many are able to afford a house. Asking for this discount to be extended to non-bumi, who are many equally in need of help may prove to be hard to sallow for many Malays, who are still racist to view these as their special rights. For those who think as such, truly view themselves as Malay and not Malaysian. Thus, until they are able to accept that Helps should be offer to all in need, irregardless of race, then Malaysia can be united. Otherwise, the 1Malaysia concept failed.

My suggestion: For Houses costing RM500,000 above, Bumi get 2% discount (RM10,000), remaining RM25,000 set aside. For Housing costing between RM300,000 to RM499,999 - 5% discount and remaining 2% set aside.
For Housing costing below RM300,000, full 7% discount and for housing below RM100,000 (10% discount) and those below RM50,000 (15% discount) These extra discount (10% and 15%) are subsidized by those Bumi who buy properties above RM 300,000.

In this way, it is the richer Bumi helping the poorer Bumi, no trace of any racial element. I am not asking for your right removal, but asking you (the richer one) to help your poorer brother! Don;t you want to be noble?
